Five Steamboat Springs Rotarians accompanied high school students to Agua Prieta Mexico, where they paired up with Rotarians, students, and community members from Agua Prieta Mexico and Douglas Arizona to make a difference.

The Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs awards multiple scholarships to graduating high school seniors (or students who are finishing a gap year following their graduation) for their continuing education. Candidates are evaluated based on community service, integrity, and interview skills. We encourage all students from throughout the Yampa Valley to apply.

The due date for the application is March 15th, 2026.

The Steamboat Springs Rotary Club is proud to recognize Jade Godley, a distinguished student at Yampa Valley High School, as the December Student of the Month. Jade was nominated by her school counselor, Carolyne Maul, who praised her as a resilient, driven, and inspiring young leader whose academic and personal achievements embody the mission and values of Rotary.

Jade’s story is one of exceptional perseverance. After beginning 10th grade while recovering from a traumatic brain injury, she refused to let the setback slow her progress. Instead, she elevated her academic performance each year—rising from a 3.5 GPA as a freshman to an impressive 4.44 in 11th grade—showcasing her resilience, focus, and dedication.

Jade has also pursued rigorous academic enrichment through concurrent enrollment at Colorado Mountain College. By the time she graduates, she will have completed over 50 college credits, including eight advanced STEM courses. Her participation in two intensive summer programs—focused on Biotechnology and Sustainable Agriculture—further highlights her passion for science, innovation, and sustainability.

Beyond academics, Jade is deeply committed to advocacy and community leadership. She serves on the Queer Futures Youth Advisory Board and contributes to planning committees for both Queer Prom and the Youth Advocacy Conference. In these roles, Jade works to create supportive, empowering spaces for young people across the region.

What truly distinguishes Jade is her authenticity and her ability to transform personal challenges into fuel for growth. She leads with compassion, inspires her peers through example, and embodies the strength that comes from perseverance and purpose.

The Steamboat Springs Rotary Club continues to collect and repurpose mobility devices for challenged people worldwide.  Donations of crutches, ankle boots, walkers, wheelchairs, canes, walkers, wheelchairs, leg braces, knee braces, prosthetic legs, air casts, baby jogging strollers, bicycle trailers, rollators can be made by dropping them off at the collection bin outside the UC Health Sports Med Clinic at Yampa Valley Community Hospital.
