At its heart, Rotary is a volunteer organization. Everything we do, from our weekly meetings to our largest fundraisers and community projects, happens because someone chooses to give their time and energy to make it happen.
Volunteering doesn't always mean taking on a big role. Sometimes it's stacking chairs after a meeting, helping set up an event, making a few phone calls, serving on a committee, and sometimes it's chairing a project, or stepping into a Board leadership position. Every contribution, big or small, matters.
The success of our club isn't built on the efforts of just a few people. It's built on all of us sharing the workload, stepping up when we can, and recognizing that many hands really do make light work.
So here's a little food for thought: Are you doing your part? Is there a small way you could lend a hand, or perhaps a bigger role you've been considering?
Rotary works because we make it work. And when we all pitch in, we can accomplish some pretty incredible things together. That's Service Above Self in action!

What brought you to Rotary, and what do you enjoy most about being a Rotarian?
As I semi-retired, I wanted to spend more time in community work. I enjoy the fellowship and the work being involved with Rotary. I especially enjoy meeting the high school seniors as part of the scholarship committee.
Tell us a little bit about yourself!
My early years involved playing music in different bands. Music was a big part of my life. While in the Army, I was named Entertainer of the Year, Ft. Polk, 1967.
My career has been in commercial insurance. I owned MDM Group and sold it in 2021. I still help them part-time. I’m presently working with London on a world-wide program for vacation rental property managers.
I flew my P-210 all through Alaska, the Yukon, and the Northwest Territories. I was the Chairman of the Northwest Colorado Airport Commission.
I love traveling. I’ve been to all 7 continents including an Antarctica expedition. Next September, we’ll be going to Svalbard, Norway, an island south of the North Pole. There are more polar bears than people.
I was a pitcher in baseball, playing one year of semi-pro. I coached Little League for 12 years.
Spent many years scuba diving in the Caribbean.
I grew up in Philadelphia. We moved to Steamboat from Cherry Hill, NJ in 1992.
Share something about yourself with Rotarians.
I love skiing, Curling, hiking, and watching my grandson play college hockey.
If you could encourage a fellow Rotarian to get involved in one thing, whether in Rotary or our community, what would it be and why?
I’d encourage anyone to work with kids. You can make a difference in their lives.

THE FOUR-WAY TEST
Of the things we think, say or do:
Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
THE OBJECT OF ROTARY
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
First The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
Second High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
Third The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
Fourth The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

NOVEMBER IS ROTARY FOUNDATION MONTH
A friendly reminder that November is Rotary Foundation Month! This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the incredible impact of The Rotary Foundation and the difference Rotarians make in communities around the world. Through our generosity and commitment, we turn contributions into meaningful projects that improve lives, promote peace, provide clean water, support education, fight disease, and create lasting change. This November, let's take time to share the Foundation's story, thank our donors, and consider how each of us can help create even more good in the world through our support of The Rotary Foundation (TRF).
**Our Club will have a great presentation about the Foundation on November 17th, so be sure to attend that meeting!
